I woke up like this: the sleep wear trend

I have resisted the temptation to wear my pj's to class after a long night of studying or insomnia. The sleepwear trend put all my concerns to bed. ( Sorry, I had to😅) Sleepwear is a trend that has made it out of the bedroom and into the streets. Comfort is king for this trend.

Silk and satin are indicative of this trend. Wearing a strappy silk shirt over a plain white t-shirt is my personal favorite. This is a simple way to strike a balance between style and relaxation. This trend was originally popular in the 90s' but has come back to the fashion scene. Who doesn't love a good throwback? This trend was popular in the 90s' teeny movies like Clueless and 10 Things I Hate About You.

PJ sets are the ideal look for an informal kickback or lunch with friends. PJ sets are like the tuxedos of the sleepwear. This trend is elegant and comfortable. PJ sets can easily pass for a romper or a jumpsuit. Simplicity is key for this lounging look.

The proper kicks are essential for this relaxed look. A pair of loafers with PJs change the look from drowsy to snazzy. Styling this look is easy with your favorite pair of sneakers or furry slippers. This look can be completed with a pair of thigh-high boots for a night out or pair of sandals for a day look.

We mustn't forget the classics of sleepwear. The hoodie and the oversized top are unsung heroes of this trend. The hoodie the ultimate "Don't bother me" look for an up-all-nighter. This cozy top was originally created for craftsmen to protect their face while working in the elements. Fast forward a couple years and it was commonly used in sports like boxing and skateboarding. As time progressed it became associated with crime and injustice for minority communities. This brings us to today where the hoodie is a versatile piece of clothing valued for its comfort. The oversized tee is another part of this trend. This unisex look that prioritizes ease and comfort.

Another part of this comfort trend are slides. Slides became popular with Rihanna's partnership with Puma and the introduction of the Gucci slide.  Shoes were made for a chill night or for the late to class look. Another slipper made for comfort is the Birkenstock(Birks). These shoes are made to support the arches of your feet and this ultimate comfortable look. A pair of Birks with novelty socks is another look for a nice night in.

Bluelight Glasses have become an essential part of my daily garb. These glasses protect your eyes from the harsh blue light that comes from the tech we use. As a college student, I spend A LOT of time using my laptop and but before getting blue light glasses, I never thought about how this would impact my eyes. These glasses are crucial for a movie night or for the all-nighter for the ultimate procrastinator.

Style does not have to be uncomfortable. I think that it is important to acknowledge that comfort is subjective. One may be comfortable in a pair of heeled boots and uncomfortable in more casual clothing. Clothes look the best when the person in them feels confident about what they are wearing. Wear what makes you feel like royalty.

Out like a light✌
