Fashion is cycle. Trends and designs can easily make a comeback. Throughout the next couple of weeks, I will discuss what means to look good in reference to innovation within fashion. I will start my timeline from the 1950s and end in the present. Fashion of the past and fashion today are intermixed, my blog posts will show what trends have made a resurgence. Fashion is dependent on culture. Groups like the Black Panthers wore leather jackets and berets, indicative of their militant and passionate approach to achieving the rights that they feel African Americans deserve. Or the rising importance of separates in the '70s and '80s as more women entered the workforce. Furthermore, I will talk about counterculture in the late '60s through the '70s that brought looser silhouettes as the hippy culture grew. The '80s also brought the diversification of the people in the fashion industry. The designer Dapper Dan who originally sold his garments on the streets of Harlem and is currently considered a high fashion designer.
I will also speak about the connection between fashion and music. In the '90s, Nirvana introduced grunge to the 90's embracing the underdog or the loser. Nirvana focuses on imperfections rather than facade of perfection. I also want to delve into other genres like rap to speak about the connection between materialism and rap music. Elton John embraced his sexual orientation through his grandiose stage outfits. This fearless attitude accompanied by his singing is what makes Elton John captivating as an artist.
In my blog posts about to the present, I will address materialism and its pervasiveness along with the establishment of personal style. When wearing anything it is important to feel self- confident. Materialism makes what you are wearing less personable. It becomes easy for people to be lost in the label. By labeling yourself as something your not, it is not being genuine. When choosing what you wear you are marketing yourself, make it as personal as possible. Personal style combination of design from the present and past that helps define what is so unique about you.
My inspiration for this blog.

I love your blog.
